This Preservation Award-winning renovation and restoration of Addison Mizner’s historic 1926 residence, including a John Volk-designed guesthouse, reimagines the estate with a classic French interior by Joseph Dirand while preserving the original grandeur and coastal character of Palm Beach. The three-story home occupies a prized intracoastal site and has been meticulously upgraded to honor its architectural legacy and exceptional setting, with thoughtfully designed landscaping that alternates open palm-lined vistas and intimate garden moments to enrich the experience of the property.
The scope of work included extensive structural restoration, reinforcing existing hollow clay perimeter walls to meet oceanfront hurricane requirements without compromising historic detailing, along with the installation of a new Ludowici clay tile roof in a custom color blend. Historic interiors were carefully restored, with modern mechanical systems seamlessly concealed within existing walls. Massangis French limestone and French oak parquet floors, combined with hand-plastered Marmorino walls, lend the residence a refined, contemporary sensibility while remaining deeply respectful of its historic character.
